Food Borne Illness Expert and WSU Alum to Speak at Conference

William Marler, national expert in food borne illness litigation and accomplished personal injury lawyer, will speak at the Food Safety: Farm to Table conference, a collaborative effort between Washington State University and the University of Idaho. Mr. Marler is the keynote speaker, opening the conference on Wednesday, May 28th at 8:45 AM with the topic Outbreak Update Trends 2006-2008. The conference is being held at the University Inn Best Western, 1516 Pullman Road, Moscow, Idaho.

Mr. Marler earned three bachelor degrees at WSU, in Political Science, Economics, and English. He served four years on the Pullman City Council, and eight years as a WSU Regent. Mr. Marler earned his law degree at the Seattle University School of Law and went on to found Marler Clark, considered the nation’s preeminent firm for the representation of victims of food borne illness and other serious personal injuries.

William Marler began litigating food borne illness cases in 1993, when he represented Brianne Kiner, the most seriously injured survivor of the Jack in the Box E. coli O157:H7 outbreak, resulting in her landmark $15.6 million settlement. Marler has focused his practice on representing individuals in litigation resulting from E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, hepatitis A, and other food contamination cases. He has represented victims of nearly every large food borne illness outbreak in the United States against such companies as Wholesale Club, Chili’s, Chi-Chi’s, ConAgra, Dole, Excel, Golden Corral, KFC, Sheetz, Sizzler, Supervalu, and Wendy’s, securing over $300,000,000 for his clients. Mr. Marler travels widely to address industry, government, and consumer groups in an effort to improve food safety nationwide
