Lettuce Served at Canadian KFC/Taco Bell Restaurants Linked to E. coli Outbreak
A December, 2012 E. coli outbreak among residents of eastern Canadian provinces was traced to lettuce served at KFC and Taco Bell restaurants.
Lettuce served at KFC and Taco Bell restaurants in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario was identified as the source of an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak in early January, 2013 after 30 Canadian residents who had fallen ill with E. coli infections reported eating at KFC/Taco Bell outlets in the days before becoming ill.
E. coli-contaminated lettuce came from California
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced that shredded iceberg lettuce grown in California was the source of the E. coli outbreak. The lettuce was distributed to the KCF/Taco Bell restaurants and other hotels, restaurants and institutions by Freshpoint Toronto.

E. coli symptoms
