Community Involvement

Marler Clark supports an array of organizations that demonstrates our commitment to the needs of the diverse community in which we live. We sponsor such non-profit organizations as Bailey-Boushay House and Safe Tables Our Priority (S.T.O.P.), and donate time and resources to other organizations throughout the community. The firm holds a deep commitment to education, and has started several scholarships that benefit students leaving high schools and entering community colleges and universities.

Art With Heart

Art with Heart unites volunteers from the arts to serve children in crisis by empowering them through self-expression and creativity. Art with Heart’s offerings include their Oodles of Doodles books – art therapy for hospitalized children, Self-Portrait Workshops for children living with cancer, Soul Food – preparing and serving food to Seattle’s homeless teens, and other art therapy programs. Bailey-Boushay House

Bailey-Boushay House is a nationally recognized facility offering residential care and day health programs for people living with AIDS. The Adult Day Health Program serves people with HIV / AIDS who are living independently in the community, and the Residential Care Program is a 35 bed skilled nursing facility for people living with HIV / AIDS and other life threatening illness. The program provides 24 hour support to individuals who require a higher level of care than a traditional nursing home can offer.

Bainbridge Youth Services

Bainbridge Youth Services supports Bainbridge Island youth through its Youth and Family Counseling Services and Youth Employment Programs. Children’s Hospital Circle of Care

Children’s Circle of Care is an annual giving program and major gifts club. The Children’s Circle of Care was founded in 1995 by Seattle Children’s Hospital and 19 of its peer pediatric institutions throughout North America. The mission of the program is to advance philanthropy that supports patient care, teaching, and research. The program advocates, educates, and encourages leading benefactors to participate in children’s hospitals throughout the nation. Clear Path International

Clear Path International serves landmine and bomb accident survivors, their families, and their communities by providing direct medical and social services to survivors and their families, and equipment support to hospitals. Denise Louie Education Center

The Denise Louie Education Center (DLEC) provides education and family services to low-income children ages three-to-five and their families who live in the International District, Beacon Hill, Mt Baker and Rainier Beach communities of Seattle. FoodHACCP.com

FoodHACCP.com is a non-profit Web site dedicated to providing food safety information. The site is run by the food safety programs at Washington State University and Kansas State University, and has more than 10,000 members from around the world. FoodHACCP.com provides food science news, information on pathogens and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point planning, and offers consulting in areas of food safety. Food Safety Network

The Food Safety Network (FSN) at the University of Guelph provides research, commentary, policy evaluation, and public information on food safety issues. A national repository of food safety-related information, FSN offers consumer, student and industry outreach services, information research, on-line resources, collaborative projects, evaluation and analysis, and a capacity to address current and emerging food safety concerns. Food Safety Web

The Food Safety Web site is a stepping-stone to food safety information and resources. A non-profit site, Food Safety Web helps users find food safety and HACCP information so they can better spend their time helping to protect the food supply. History Link is first and largest encyclopedia of community history created expressly for the Internet. HistoryLink.org is an evolving online encyclopedia of state and local history in Washington State. League of Education Voters

The League of Education Voters is a non-profit, grassroots, statewide network of advocates dedicated to improving Washington’s public schools. The League of Education Voters strives to ensure that every student enrolled in Washington public schools has the good teachers, small class sizes, and extra help he or she needs to meet the high standards in K-12 and that every student who earns the opportunity for advanced training can enroll in a community college or university, with financial aid if needed.

Safe Tables Our Priority

Safe Tables Our Priority (S.T.O.P.) is a non-profit grassroots organization devoted to victim assistance, public education, and policy advocacy for safe food and public health. S.T.O.P.’s mission is to prevent unnecessary illness and loss of life from pathogenic foodborne illness. Members use their stories of personal tragedy due to foodborne illness to help further public education in the realm of food safety. (For more information, visit http://www.safetables.org)

Volunteer Attorneys for People with Aids (VAPWA)

The King County Bar Association’s program, Volunteer Attorneys for People with AIDS, or VAPWA, provides civil legal representation, advice, and education to low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS in King County and Washington State. VAPWA provides free (pro bono), reduced fee, and regular-fee referrals for legal assistance to eligible clients who are HIV positive, and are involved in a civil legal issue with jurisdiction in Washington State. VAPWA clients receive help with such things as estate-planning, bankruptcy and credit issues, HIV-status discrimination complaints, and landlord-tenant issues.
