Health officials determined the source of the Salmonella outbreak to be foods purchased from the bakery and deli at the Wal-Mart store located at 1133 North Emerson in Greenwood, Indiana. At the conclusion of the investigation into the Wal-Mart Salmonella outbreak, Indiana health officials had detected at least 84 individuals who were confirmed ill with Salmonella infections after eating foods from the Wal-Mart deli between May and August 2006. Marler Clark filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart on behalf of a child who became ill as part of the outbreak and was hospitalized on September 7, 2006. The law firm ultimately represented multiple individuals who were part of the Wal-Mart Salmonella outbreak.
