Dungeness Valley Creamery E. coli Outbreak - Washington State

Raw milk from the Dungeness Valley Creamery in Sequim, Washington, was identified as the source of an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak in early December of 2009.  At least three people who drank the raw milk have tested positive for E. coli O157:H7 infection.

During a Washington State Department of Agriculture investigation at the dairy at least one sample collected tested positive for the same strain of bacteria that caused one of the illnesses.  The Washington State Departments of Health and Agriculture advised any consumers who purchased raw milk from the Dungeness Valley Creamery to discard the product, as it may be contaminated with potentially deadly E. coli bacteria.
