Hepatitis sufferers reach settlement

August 15 2000

A $1.6 million settlement has been reached in an outbreak of hepatitis A traced to food at two Seattle-area Subway sandwich stores.

The settlement on behalf of 29 people who said they were infected by the virus was announced yesterday by Seattle law firm Marler Clark.

At least 31 King County residents were sickened in the outbreak last year.

A class-action lawsuit was filed in November seeking compensation for time missed from work, medical and other expenses.
