Rocky Mountain Natural Meats recalled 66,000 pounds of bison and buffalo meat after a cluster of E. coli illnesses in Colorado were linked to the product.  Health authorities have identified 5 illnesses in Colorado and one illness in New York in people who consumed the product.  A full list of the recalled products with is available on the FSIS (Food Safety and Inspection Service) website.  The products were produced between May 21, 2010 and May 27, 2010, and distributed to retail establishments nationwide.  Food service distributors in Utah and Arizona also received the product.  Although the sell-by dates have passed, FSIS wants to remind consumers that they may have the product in their freezers.  Any product on-hand should be discarded. 

On July 7, Rocky Mountain Natural Meats added another 776 pounds of meat to the recall.
